Originating in China, garlic chives have been used in Asian cuisine for thousands of years. Visually stunning white flowers and one of the most gourmet herbs in the world of sprouts. The thin flat leaves have a sweet garlic flavor and can be added to sauces, dips, omelets, salads, and steamed vegetables. Traditional pad Thai, Chinese jiaozi, and various Korean dishes such as buchukimchi often contain garlic chives; they also make a popular addition to stir fries, soups, and dishes with eggs or fish.

Provides abundant vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, calcium, and iron.

Like most of the Allium family, Garlic Chives plants do have a small bulb that can be used like a small green onion making these plants drought tolerant and great for xeriscape herb gardens. You may harvest these small bulbs while the flower is still a bud. Harvest the leaves as desired once they are about 6 inches long. Pick the leaves from the base by hand. Garlic Chives leaves are very soft and quickly lose freshness. Like Chives, Garlic Chives may be frozen. Regular cutting helps keep plants vigorous and healthy and encourages spreading.
